Prize Summary

24 Hour Prize Structure:

With over 3.7 million dollars in prize grants and matching funds, it is time for your nonprofit to plan your strategy leading up to Silicon Valley Gives Day. Below is an outline of what participating nonprofits are eligible for during the 24 hour live event.

All prize grants won are disbursed post-event. Silicon Valley Community Foundation can modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community.  Silicon Valley Community Foundation reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.

  1. Dollar For Dollar Matching Grants - $3 million match funds
  2. 24 Hour Leaderboard Prize Grants - $30,000 total prize grants
  3. Hourly Prize Grants - $87, 700 total prize grants

  • During the 9:00-10:00 AM and 5:00-6:00 PM hours, Skoll Foundation will provide dollar for dollar matches to donations to any nonprofit on a first come, first served basis up to $50,000 in each hour. Winners and prize amounts will be announced post event.

  • Nonprofit with mission related to Environment and Science and Technology with the most unique donors in the below hours - sunrise, midday and sunset - will win $1,000. Organizations self-selected one or more categories upon registration.

  • Any participating nonprofit with the most unique donors during bankers’ hours - each hour from 8:00 AM through the 5:00 PM hour - wins $250:

Box Power Hour Prize - Most Unique Donors:
$5,000 total prizes sponsored by Box

  • One nonprofit with the most unique donors during 2:00-3:00 PM from each of the following categories wins $1,000: Elementary and Secondary Education, Youth Development, Job Training and Employment, Environment and Science and Technology. Organizations self-selected one or more categories upon registration.

Bernard A. Newcomb Foundation Power Hour Leaderboard - Most Unique Donors
$20,000 total prizes sponsored by the Bernard A. Newcomb Foundation

  • Eight (8) nonprofits with the most unique donors during the 12:00 Noon -1:00 PM hour win $2,500 each

Power Hour Leaderboard - Most Unique Donors:
$25,000 total prizes sponsored by an anonymous donor

  • Ten (10) nonprofits with the most unique donors during the 5:00-6:00 PM hour win $2,500 each.

Other Incentives for May 5th:

PayPal: PayPal will donate an extra 1 percent to the benefiting nonprofit for every donation made through PayPal on May 5th at svgives.razoo.com, up to $100,000 in matching funds for Silicon Valley Gives 2015.

Tesla “Evening with Model S” Package

The three top donors who make the largest donations on May 5 to any nonprofit participating in Silicon Valley Gives will receive an “Evening with Model S” test drive experience. Winners will take home a Tesla Model S from any Bay Area showroom overnight. Model S is provided by Tesla Palo Alto with availability subject to random blackout periods. This package is redeemable up to one year from the event. Winner must be at least 25 years of age with a valid U.S. driver’s license. Winner will be announced post event.

San Jose Sharks Foundation Prize

The nonprofit that receives the single largest donation on May 5 will receive an exclusive package from the San Jose Sharks Foundation to use in its future fundraising efforts. This VIP San Jose Sharks hockey experience will include four tickets to a mutually agreed-upon regular season 2015-16 home game, as well as a parking pass, behind the scenes tour and Sharks gift bag. This is sure to be a popular auction or raffle item to help drive future support of the winning organization. Winner will be announced post event.

Please note: the Guide to SVGives Prizes defines a “unique donor” as a donor who makes at least one transaction on the Razoo platform within the 24 hours of the giving day. Unique donors are determined in the system by the transaction information provided during the donation check out process. The first donation made during the 24-hour event will count as a donor’s unique donation for the purpose of all leaderboard prizes and organizational donor totals. For the purpose of hourly golden tickets and power hour prizes, a unique donor may be counted once for each hourly prize opportunity.
