Cancer CAREpoint is a local nonprofit organization that provides free support services to cancer patients, their families and caregivers in Silicon Valley – regardless of their type of cancer, where they receive medical care or their insurance status. In 2015 the organization provided support services to more than 1,300 cancer patients and families. In 2016, it is expanding services to reach even more people in need.
Last year Cancer CAREpoint participated in Silicon Valley Gives for the second time and raised over $40,000, allowing the organization to continue supporting clients through nutrition classes, yoga and exercise classes, guided imagery and meditation, one-on-one counseling and support groups, a wig bank and more.
Silicon Valley Gives provided a platform and opportunity for Cancer CAREpoint to fundraise through the 24-hour giving day, and also offered trainings to help increase outreach. “We expanded our donor base and reached new clients to support and help them through their cancer journey,” said Rob Tufel, Executive Director of Cancer CAREpoint. “We’re thrilled to be a part of Silicon Valley Gives 2016, and are looking forward to raising funds to continue supporting cancer patients and families in our community!”
