Silicon Valley Gives is an exciting way to make a difference in people’s lives here in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco and San Benito counties. Here’s how you can get involved.
Donors
- As a donor supporting this effort, you will be able to identify, learn about and contribute to local programs in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco and San Benito counties, while playing an active role in helping to leverage your donation to increase the impact of your gift.
- Together, in a single day we have an opportunity to raise millions of dollars for thousands of nonprofits--making a big difference here in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco and San Benito counties.
Nonprofits
- To be eligible to participate in and receive donations via Silicon Valley Gives, nonprofits must be 501(c)(3) organizations headquartered in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco or San Benito counties. In addition, 501(c)(3) organizations that are headquartered elsewhere in the Bay Area and can demonstrate significant service in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco or San Benito counties may be eligible to participate and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- No matter an organization’s size or budget, an online giving day levels the playing field by giving organizations of all shapes and sizes the ability to compete.
- Participating in a giving day can raise a nonprofit’s public image considerably and expand its circle of supporters to include those who give online and introduce and reinforce new giving behaviors that can help build capacity and lead to greater year-round giving.
Corporations
- Corporations and their employees, along with donors, can work together to support our region’s entire nonprofit sector infrastructure. Corporations can also become sponsors and/or funders of matching gifts and prizes, as well as encourage their employees to give.

Toolkits
Volunteers
We will have close to 200 volunteer shifts on May 3 at many locations across Silicon Valley. At each location, volunteers will work in shifts, encouraging shoppers to donate to their favorite nonprofits via Microsoft Surfaces available for online giving. We will provide our volunteers with the tools to succeed - training, Silicon Valley Gives t-shirts and goodies to provide to individuals who donate.
